Tesla revealed the die-cast version of its next-generation Roadster cars. The Roadster was unveiled in 2017 at the Tesla Semi unveiling event. It has been a long time since then. However, the surprising element for the Roadster is that, as mentioned by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk at the unveiling ceremony, the electric supercar will have four seats and can support four people with luggage. But at the first-look show, none of its internal features were showcased. The event focused mainly on putting on display the performance of the vehicle.
According to Tesla, the Roadster 1:18 diecast model is based on the 3D CAD data used to manufacture the actual Roadster. This model gives us some basic preliminary ideas about what to expect from the actual upcoming electric supercar. The one thing that catches everyone’s attention is the hatch which goes all the way over to the backseat and to the roof.
The roof of the Tesla Roadster 2 car can be dismantled or mounted on according to the driver’s need and preference and the trunk at the back of the car has enough space to carry the roof. Tesla has left the large doorstep as it had been seen on the original Roadster. But there is obviously a reason for leaving the large doorstep as it was other than the sentimental reasons.
The 200 kWh battery pack is rather large and it requires some space for it to fit properly. That is all known for the front seats. The backseat cannot be viewed in the die-cast. But hopefully, Tesla will release more photos of the die-cast which showcases the backseat also.
Originally, Musk had promised that the new supercar will come out sometime in 2020 but from the looks of it and keeping in mind the slow production space, it is highly unlikely that Tesla will meet its own deadline. Now, the next-generation Tesla Roadster 2 is expected to come out in 2021.
