It is certain that several models are expected. Previously, the most advanced Note 10 devices will probably have a ToF camera. A new trademark application from Samsung confirms this story.
Samsung Make & Play 3D
On June 20, 2019, Samsung Electronics filed a trademark with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the name Make & Play 3D.
The trademark is submitted by intermediary Abril Abogados from Madrid, Spain. This company has often acted in the name of Samsung; the name Neuro Game Booster, software for AI-optimized gaming, was established at the beginning of this year.
The trademark for Samsung Make & Play 3D is categorized as Class 9, with the description; ‘Camera module for smartphones; Time-of-flight (TOF) optical sensors for smartphones; Spatial, depth, and distance sensors for smartphones; 3D scan sensors for smartphones; Software for smartphones and mobile devices for use in improving the quality of digital photos and photos were taken.”
Galaxy Note 10 gets an improved camera system.
Samsung already has a smartphone in its range with a ToF camera. This 3D depth camera can be found in the advanced Galaxy S10 5G. The Korean manufacturer will introduce its new high-end smartphone series at the beginning of August. Multiple models are expected to be introduced, such as a Note 10e, a Note 10, and a Note 10 5G or Note 10 Pro. The most advanced models are most likely equipped with a Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera.
Samsung is not the first manufacturer to introduce a smartphone with a ToF camera. The Chinese company Oppo is already equipped with the Oppo RX17 Pro with a 3D depth camera last year. Earlier this year, the LG G8 ThinQ was also announced with a ToF camera and the Huawei P30 Pro and Honor View 20.
According to Twitterer Ice Universe, which more often reveals revealing news about Samsung Galaxy smartphones, Samsung will also equip the camera of the new Note with three variable aperture settings. With the S10 series, this is limited to two steps; f / 1.5 and f / 2.4. An extra step seems to be added, f / 1.8. Ideal for taking sharp portrait photos with a blurred background, but this extra step can also be useful in poor light conditions.
