MediaTek is taking its initiatives further and in its upcoming conference that is scheduled to take place on March 3, the company will introduce a new TV chip technology. It should be noted that MediaTek’s venture into TV chips is not something that is brand new.
MediaTek has been a pioneer when it comes to developing and materializing new chip technology, be it for smartphones or for TVs. There also has been some news that MediaTek’s upcoming chip technology will also work towards facilitating India’s steps towards 5G and IoTs.
MediaTek launched a new TV chip on March 3, and as per the statement given by the company, the new chip will focus mainly on ‘Future Game Experience’. As the description for the chip suggests, it will aim at gaming experience and will feature low latency which is an important requisite for a faster, seamless gaming experience.
Last year in October, MediaTek launched the MT9602 SoC for high-end smart TVs. As was expected of the company, the chip delivered on every aspect imaginable, and as such, the company has taken manufacturing chips for TVs further. The MT9602 SoC has features such as Ai-PQ (image quality), AI-AQ (sound quality), HDMI 2.1a support, global HDR, AV1, and AVS2 decoding support. The company has announced that going forward it will work towards improving image and audio qualify for real-time video. The chip that was launched on March 3, 2021, will hopefully match the high-expectation associated with MediaTek.
Additionally, back in 2019, MediaTek launched the flagship smart TV chip S900 that had support for 8K video decoding and high-speed edge AI computing. The S900 chip uses ARM Cortex-A73 CPU and Mali G52 GPU supports 8K video decoding and HDR10 + standard. On the I/O side, the S900 chip supports the HDMI2.1A interface, the bandwidth is increased to 48GBPS, and it supports HDR10+, 4K 120Hz, and 8K 60Hz video output.
