A new source appears to support the leaks that Virtuos (a game development studio) is working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake rumors have been going around for a while, but they have recently picked up steam when Virtuos confirmed a connection on their official website, with Konami by naming the company as their client.

Since the launch of Metal Gear Survive, a survival sequel to Hideo Kojima’s own Metal Gear Solid 5 that received strong criticism, and hence Metal Gear Solid has remained in hibernation. Konami had mostly maintained the series in a state of stasis rather than making any explicit announcements of any new projects.

An unnamed remake was announced last year with other Silent Hill titles, which eventually proved to be genuine. Players had hoped it would include the rumored Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, and the new reports confirm their expectations. However, the announcement video was then proved to be unofficial and false.

It is also significant that Virtuos studio has emerged in connection with a possible Metal Gear Solid 3 remake rumor is the second time now. Moreover, Insider Gaming has discovered references to Virtuos mentioning expertise in creating games using Konami’s FOX Engine, which was previously only ever utilized for Metal Gear Solid and Pro Evolution Soccer games.

Despite the fact that Konami and Virtuos have both kept mute on the topic, earlier claims give the rumors more validity. Though nothing definitive has yet been stated officially, it’s hard to ignore all the indications that something could be happening.

It is not certain that the firms are working on a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake only because Virtuos Games lists Konami as one of its clients. It’s likely that they’re working on a new game. So until Konami really provides an official statement, consider everything with a grain of salt.
