Xiaomi has released the Mi Music and Mi video streaming services in India. Both of these apps are not entirely new. They have just refreshed versions of the already existing local media players. The Mi Music app is available in India from today, while the new supercharged Mi Videos will be available from next week.
Mi Video has helped with combining many video streaming services and made them come under one single shared umbrella, including SonyLIV, AltBalaji, Zee5, Viu, and TVF. However, the company has not released any specific details about the new app. The Mi Music app is powered by Hungama Play, SonyLiv, and Voot. Customers will have to pay an annual fee of Rs. 899 to access services over 10 million free tracks across 13 local languages. This app will also let the users download and play videos offline.
Xiaomi claims to have created a library containing content worth over 500,000 hours, and 80% of this is free to the users. Xiaomi’s pairing up with Hungama music has made it possible for Xiaomi to offer a lot of free music and videos to its users. What makes the music app stand out among other brands and the same apps is that they have added a new feature called Dynamic Lyrics.
The app will highlight the lyrics that are being sung, and if the user skips the lyrics, the music too will be skipped. It is more or less like singing karaoke. This app reminds everyone of LiveLyrics on SoundHound.Mi Video will let its users switch between their phones and smart TV. Xiaomi is taking feedback from its users, and they are willing to add a new feature that the users find helpful or they want it to be in the app.
