Today Team Xbox announced that Microsoft had acquired Beam, an innovative and interactive live streaming service that gives viewers to watch and play along with their favorite game in real-time.

Beam has evolved from a game streaming passive, watch and chat experience into real-time to the viewer. It is directly interacting with the streamer’s gameplay and live broadcast. You can earn XP points, boosters, and emoticons on the basis of how much u watch and how often you tune it.

It’s always been a dream of mine to make an impact in the lives of gamers all over the world, and I’m extremely excited to announce that we’re taking another huge leap towards making that dream a reality – Matt Salsamendi, Beam’s CEO.

The beam is part of a vibrant community of gamers and streamers, and it plans to provide a great experience for all of our plans. Beams remains committed to its mission of empowering the user and streamers across the platform.

Thieves and Minecraft may be big parts of Beam going forward. They are both titles that largely draw from social interaction.

Gaming is always becoming social, and Beam is an interesting chance to blur the lines between spectating and actually getting involved.

Beam currently has apps available for iOS and Android, and it can also be accessed on the web via most browsers.
