A big and better initiative taken by Microsoft India and Apollo Hospitals. Microsoft, Apollo collaborate to launch for the first time an Artificial Intelligence network for healthcare. Today they announced the launch of first ever AI-powered Cardiovascular Disease Risk Score API (application program interface), aiming to predict the risk of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) in the Indian population.

Its great news for cardiovascular patients as this AI-powered API will be used by doctors across the Apollo network to foresee the risk of CVD and come up with precautionary cardiac care across the country.
Surveys done by the Union Health Ministry forecasts that one in every eighth Indian suffers from High Blood Pressure which increases the risk of CVD among the Indian population. Despite such huge cases, doctors find it hard to predict and identify the probability of cardiovascular disease. Though there are various others CVD risk models they fail to cater to the Indian population.
The Microsoft API is developed by using a combination of applied AI and clinical expertise on a large sample of retrospective data on health checks and coronary events. It is predicted that the risks are much more influenced by our daily lifestyle attributes such as diet, tobacco and smoking preferences and physical activity as well as psychological stress combined with anxiety which reflects hypertension, systolic, and diastolic blood pressure.
