Microsoft had added the Edge Surf game almost a year ago. At first, the game was part of a hidden Easter egg hunt in November 2020, and the company had challenged its players to ride the waves with the new surfing game. Later, the Surf became a permanent offline game for Microsoft Edge.
The game players had to ride the waves across the ocean while avoiding being hit by an island, fellow surfers, or a Kraken. It comes with three modes: classic surf mode, a time trial mode, and an option to surf as many gates as possible called zig-zag mode.
Since the original version was launched back in 2020, Microsoft had added keyboard, mouse, touch, and gamepad support. Originally, it was thought of as a replacement for the Chrome Dinosaur in the Chrome browser. After almost a year of being launched and being loved by its users, Microsoft finally announced on June 10th that the company had updated the game in the latest channel version of Edge Canary. The new upgrade also introduced many new features.
Edge product manager William Devereux wrote, “I know that many people like surfing games in the Edge browser, and our night vision is like this. We have updated the edge://surf in the Canary channel to include new obstacles. A simpler character selection menu, a simple way to share with friends, and many bug fixes and other improvements. Enjoy!”
Anyone with access to Microsoft Edge can play the game simply by typing Edge://surf in the address bar of the Edge browser if they do not want to wait until they go offline. As part of the new upgrade, the developers have apparently added new obstacles to the surf course, simpler character selection, easier ways to share games with friends along some general bug fixes.
