Microsoft’s patent application for this brand-new Xbox Controller with additional features was initially filed in Europe on February 15, 2024. It was, however, made public this week. From interior sources, one of the inventors is Ryan J. Phillips who is a Senior Product Designer at Microsoft – Xbox. The news was officially released to the public by a patent application released by Microsoft which was published in Europe that relates to Xbox.
The most specific feature that has stood out is the new status indicator bar for its game controller which has been created to indicate the selected endpoint connection of the communication device. This is being used where the selected endpoint connection is selected from a plurality of endpoint connections involving at least a local electronic device and an access point created to communicate with a cloud service provider.
The patent application released by Microsoft contains information to allow a user to change an endpoint connection with a host device with the help of an accessory device. This new system is mainly about the systems and methods for allowing a user to choose, select and change an endpoint connection between a plurality of host devices via an accessory device on their own volition. There have been a diverse number of embodiments relating to this particular launch.
Some embodiments have an accessory device that incorporates a status indicator that clearly and intuitively indicates a currently selected and/or connected endpoint connection with a host device. In another embodiment, the accessory device has a status bar with a variety of icons present on the status bar that correlate to several communication methods. In some embodiments, the status bar has indicators that communicate different endpoints.
And in another embodiment, the status indicator outputs an audio signal to an audio output device. In another version, the status indicator has a haptic indicator for endpoint connection. There is also a presence of an accessory device in another version that has an input mechanism on the accessory device to select and exchange an endpoint connection with a host device.
Another variation presents the input mechanism as a dedicated button, that increases through or selects from a variety of data channel personalities, where each data channel personality is associated with a different endpoint connection. A few more variations in the embodiment of the new launch is also available in the original patent application. This official news of the new patent application raises the expectations of Xbox users for its dynamic future!
