Microsoft has announced changes to the Office suite as the 2010 version will end support on October 13, 2020. Microsoft has requested the customers to use the 2010 version to use the 2019 version.
Microsoft has also confirmed that it may launch a new version of Office next year that shall include Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other tools. If the users continue to use Office 2010 after the deadline, Microsoft would stop providing security updates, feature updates and technical support in October, which will be a problem.
Even after the end of support, the applications included in Office 2010 will continue to run. Still, the device will be vulnerable to malicious software and there will be a threat to hijack the device.
In order to ensure security from Microsoft, users must use Office 2019 or Microsoft 365. The Office 2019 is a one-time-purchase productivity suite with only one license per computer, while Microsoft 365 is a subscription-based service helpful for multiple devices, and comes with regular updates.
In the second half of 2021, a new version may come. There are plans by Microsoft to support consumers who are interested in purchasing a one-time license. At the Ignite 2020 conference, Microsoft announced the new Office.
The Office 2021/2022 updates will include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Exchange, SharePoint, Outlook, etc. We must look out for more information about this.
