Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced that it is developing the first cellular chip optimized and certified for Microsoft’s Azure Sphere Internet of Things (IoT) operating system. The new chipset will come with hardware-level security and will automatically connect to Azure Sphere security cloud services.
Azure Sphere with the help of the new Qualcomm Technologies’ security will smooth the path to the ultimate security questions for the manufacturers. The highlight of this partnership is that each new Microsoft device will come secured and up to date for over a decade.

This would be the second time Qualcomm and Microsoft have partnered to bring better security solutions. Previously, their partnership brought about the Ai to the Intelligent Edge with the Vision AI Developer Kit for Azure IoT solutions featuring Qualcomm Vision Intelligence 300 Platform.
Microsoft also released Azure IoT SDK support for the Qualcomm 9205 LTE modem. The new chipset offers global multimode LTE category M1 (eMTC) and NB2 (NB-IoT) connectivity, 2G/E-GPRS connectivity, application processing, geolocation, and hardware-based connectivity security, support for cloud services and accompanying developer tools, and comes with a fully integrated RF front-end.
All of the features come under one blanket hardware security framework including Qualcomm Trusted Execution Environment.
