Microsoft Teams web version is set to get its own custom background experience as recently revealed by the company.

Recall that in 2020, Microsoft Teams launched a new custom background experience on the desktop. However, this was not the case with the app’s web version, which obviously still lacks the feature. From all indications, however, the web version is set to have the custom backgrounds feature anytime soon as suggested by the company.

According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap by the Redmond giant, there is every right to believe that the custom background effects are coming to Teams web meetings by September.

In a statement released by the company, Microsoft Teams explained how it would be possible to blur the background or entirely replace the background with provided images during a video call or meeting on the web. Noteworthy, however, is that blurring the background or entirely replacing the background image might not keep your sensitive information away from being seen by others in the meeting or call, reiterated the company.

Surprisingly also, there is an additional feature for the web version. In addition to the custom backgrounds that are already in place, it’s now possible to share system audio with other participants in a meeting on the Microsoft Teams web app. Although the system audio feature is already available on the desktop, Microsoft is also planning to roll out the system audio feature to its web users later this year (by October to be precise).

Recall that just recently, Microsoft Teams went over 250 million daily active users, and this new development as regards the custom backgrounds on the web would no doubts, help the company create a consistent experience level across the web clients and desktop users.
