Microsoft to bring their new Fluent UI to more applications including Teams

Fluent UI from Microsoft is a collection of UX frameworks for creating web and mobile apps that share code, design, and interaction behavior. The Fluent cross-platform design system gives designers and developers the frameworks they need to create engaging product experiences – accessibility, internationalization, and performance included.

Microsoft has already announced that its future Office applications will include UI elements based on this Fluent design. As for their current update road-map, this tech giant is aiming to bring a new collection of colors and icons to the Microsoft Teams.

According to the reports, Microsoft will start rolling out new design changes to the Teams desktop client in November 2020. They will also begin to push the new dark theme background color and icon set to keep the user interface of Teams consistent with the new design style of Microsoft 365.

Microsoft aims to pay more attention to the immersive experience. Furthermore, they do not intend to keep their usual traditional design approach for the fluent Design and fade the brand color from the title. As Microsoft previously announced, they are going to introduce softer colors rather than using their usual bright colors like that of the previous application interfaces.

Microsoft has been focusing on its Fluent cross-platform design system since it introduced Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile platforms. With the Fluent UI, they look forward to work across disciplines and product teams to deliver more seamless experiences that feel natural on the devices the customers use throughout their day.

Therefore it is more than just a creative framework platform for the designers and the developers.

For now, along with the other applications, Microsoft Teams will be getting the Fluent UI along with the update. But, the other Office applications also move to the list gradually as Microsoft has confirmed that Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other applications will also receive UI improvements in the near future.

Therefore, get ready to witness the Fluent Design System from Microsoft and upgrade your device experience accordingly.
