Minecraft is pretty much available on all platforms, but the version developed for the Apple TV has been quietly discontinued last month. The app arrived on the device two years ago costs £20 in the UK. It seems that users can no longer download the game from the tvOS App Store while existing players have been informed that the title will no longer receive updates or support.

The message was conveyed to its players as it said to relocate its resources to more popular platforms, and while the game would work on the device, it would refund purchases made within the last 90 days. The Apple TV game was removed from the App Store on September 24.

“We’re thankful to the Apple TV community for their support but we need to reallocate resources to the platforms that our players use the most,” explains a message from Mojang that is now displayed to Apple TV users.

The app launched back in December 2016 was priced at $19.99, and consumers who purchased the game within the last 90 days before September 24 can ask for a full refund to Apple. The reason to stop supporting is due to its lack of enough players on Apple TV to be worth the investment.

But if you are one of those who plays Minecraft on Apple TV, here’s the good news; the game will continue functioning for the time being, as the in-game note confirms that it will allow you “to play ‘Minecraft’ on Apple TV, keep building in your world and your Marketplace purchases (including Minecoins) will continue to be available.” If only you have purchased it within last 90 days Microsoft might make a full refund through Apple.
