Well-known leakster Andri Yatim tweeted yesterday claiming that the second-generation edition of Motorola Moto M, the Motorola Moto M2 was to officially launch in October 2017. After the first-generation Motorola Moto M was launched at the end of 2016, there were speculations regarding the company working on its successor, which pretty much justifies Yatim’s tweet.
As per the tweet, Moto M2 will be introduced to more markets than its predecessor. It is to pack a 5.5-inch FHD display, keeping the trend of Moto M. Moto M2 will be released in two variants, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and the second with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Other features of Moto M2 claimed in the leakster’s tweet include the variants powered by MediaTek Helio P20 processor. The benchmarking platform Geekbench and the certification site of Wi-Fi Alliance recently have had a smartphone with the model name Lenovo XT1920-3 in their listing. Widespread speculations suggest that it is the Moto M2 and is carrying the Helio P20 chipset.
The handset scored 1,163 points in the single-core test and 4,835 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. Clocking at 1.85 GHz, the Helio P20 is supported by 4GB RAM, while the phone runs on Nougat 7.1.1. According to the listing of Wi-Fi Alliance, the Lenovo XT1920-3 also features these specs.
Motorola released 6 smartphones within the first 6 months of 2017 (Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus, Moto C, Moto C Plus, Moto E4, and Moto E4 Plus). The company has more phones pegged to launch within the second 6 months (Moto G5S, Moto G5S Plus, Moto Z2, Moto Z2 Force, and Moto X4), including the Moto M2 that sees the light of the market in October.
The original Moto M packs the MediaTek Helio P10 processor, but it was released with Helio P15 in India. Its two variants came with 3GB+32GB and 4GB+128GB. Thus far, there is no other information revealed on other features than the aforementioned details regarding its successor, the Moto M2. But it is quite likely that more details will be revealed as the launch date comes near.
