NASA has arranged for a media teleconference today, June 20, starting at 1 pm EDT, which will have a discussion on NEOs or Near-Earth Objects.
It involves a NEO preparedness report that details American plans for countering threats on earth by NEOs. There is no threat presently posed by the NEOs, but the report is believed to be a key step in addressing a nationwide response to possible future hazards.
Earlier this month, an asteroid named 2018 LA was spotted over Arizona. It crashed and burned in the atmosphere of the earth a few hours after being discovered racing down to us. NASA said this was a smaller object than what we are up against in the coming future.
While the unknown heavenly objects start rushing down to earth, raising panic among beings and running for safety, plannings such as that of NASA are essential as we look at the near future.
The report is titled: National Near-Earth Object Preparedness Strategy and Action Plan. It nurtures the actions aiming to develop coordination with the Federal government. It envisions the next 10 years while addressing the NEO-posed threats.
