Netflix has officially announced that they are going to introduce the High Dynamic Range (HDR) support on Windows 10. Both the Edge browser users and the app users will be able to enjoy this latest inclusion. This update will let its members enjoy the amazing Netflix movies and shows in HDR, and all they would require is a supported device and a premium plan.

Starting from the delicious colors of Chef’s Table to the terrifying depths of the Upside Down in Stranger Things 2 and especially the upcoming Netflix film Bright starring Will Smith, everything is now accessible to windows users with those extra color details courtesy of the HDR mode. The American entertainment provider has already 200 hours of HDR entertainment planned for 2018. With this latest update & the increasing number of HDR PCs entering the market, the firm is definitely trying to grow the number of Netflix Originals.

The world’s leading internet television network has been working with a number of industry partners on this latest update for some years. Intel’s 7th and higher generation CPUs will be able to play the Netflix HDR10 encodes. Both Intel and Nvidia developed GPUs using 10 bits-per-channel for each of the RGB colors, will help the HDR mode to flourish properly by increasing the color space. Netflix and Microsoft partnered together to use this opportunity for the latest hardware advancement and create the software that would complement it. The necessary updates for the OS and the browser have already been included in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. The entertainment industries engineers have integrated against those APIs in order to complete the video player work.

With the HDR being made available, the streaming media provider eyes the 4K feature as their next step of advancement, though that is going to require some serious time & advancement, for sure.
