Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action RPG with anime-style aesthetics and a vast open-world map. The game was conceived by the Chinese video game developer miHoYo, and takes place in the fantasy world of Teyvat. It has achieved a lot of popularity since its release in November 2020. There is a lot of new content every few weeks, and this time we have a short trailer called “Endless Suffering” which teases the upcoming content.
Watch the “Endless Suffering” Short Trailer for Genshin Impact
Short trailers in Genshin Impact are short videos of three to four minutes in length which usually feature a character’s story. The new trailer begins with Xiao who talks about fighting the darkness in a world where karma takes its toll. He believes that he will turn into one of the monsters himself in a moment of weakness.
Xiao sees what he believes to be a copy of himself, but it turns out to be a nightmare. Baizhu is next to him, saying he’s awoken just in time for the Lantern Rite, while Qiqi says she’s the one who carried him. It might not have been a dream, after all. However, Xiao takes his leave quickly.
He sees a little girl who calls for her grandfather seeing that Xiao is sicker than he seems. He gets a vision of Venti who asks to celebrate with him, but Xiao wants to rest.
The description of the trailer is as follows:
Long ago, there were people in Liyue Harbor who caught a glimpse of a shadow.
This solitary shadow was fleeting, and would quickly conceal himself amongst the lanterns.
All the hardships in the world have a name. This one is a millennium of doom that cannot be quelled nor eradicated.
Even the occasional respite is but ephemeral, and cannot give rise to hope.
Players are always interested to learn more about the characters of the game, and while we don’t know much about Xiao’s past, this opens up a lot of possibilities, as well as the lore released in patch 2.7. The response to this trailer has been very positive, as fans have praised the animation, music, narration as well as interaction between characters.
