Highlights
- With the growing demand for foldable devices, we may soon be witnessing the iPhone Fold.
- A prominent leak has been discovered as of late, detailing the camera and display specifications of the foldable device.
- These leaks also bring with them other speculations, mainly regarding the launch and pricing of the upcoming device.
Apple’s long anticipated entry into the foldable market with iPhone Fold is gradually taking shape, as we had previously discussed much of the murmurs, shedding light on its screen specifications, design features, and a potential release window. According to reports from a well-known Korean blogger, Apple is working on a foldable iPhone that could potentially launch as early as 2026 or 2027. The device, unofficially dubbed the “iPhone Fold,” is expected to blend Apple’s refined design language with cutting-edge display technology, similar to that found on Samsung’s devices.
A Dual-Display Setup and Specifications
The most striking aspect of the leaked information is the nature of the device’s display setup. According to leaker “yeux1122”, the device will feature both an inner foldable screen and an external cover screen, similar to existing foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. The primary foldable display is said to measure 7.76 inches diagonally, with a resolution of 2713 x 1920 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of approximately 428 PPI. This inner screen will reportedly incorporate an under-display camera technology, allowing for a truly uninterrupted viewing experience.
The secondary screen, used primarily when the device is folded, will measure 5.49 inches with a resolution of 2088 x 1422 pixels. Unlike the inner screen, the outer display is expected to use a punch-hole design for the front-facing camera. These alleged specifications are consistent with earlier rumors from industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who forecasted a 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch cover screen.

This device is rumored to feature two distinct camera systems: one integrated under the inner display, and another punch-hole camera on the outer display. The under-display camera suggests that Apple is working to eliminate visible notches and bezels, enhancing the immersive experience for users. Samsung Display is reportedly the supplier of the OLED panels for the foldable iPhone. Apple’s collaboration with Samsung for display technology isn’t really new, but this partnership on foldable panels clearly shows Apple’s intention of utilizing the most mature foldable screen technology that is currently available.

We must keep one thing in mind, though: Yuex1122 does not state where they appropriated the information, other than seeing it on Weibo, to which he did not provide a link. The previous leak was made by Weibo-based “Digital Chat Station”, which provided similar measurements, resolution, and camera details, but again declined to offer a source for their information. There is a good chance that yuex1122 is just repeating the latter’s information to their audience. It is also equally probable that yuex1122 has a different source on Weibo altogether, but it still stands that both provide information that is still within the ballpark of the claims made by Ming-Chi Kuo.
Although the leaks primarily focus on hardware specifications, a foldable iPhone would necessitate a significant overhaul of the iOS system. We can expect enhancements to multitasking features, optimization of UI transitions between folded and unfolded modes, and better support for dual-screen workflows. Given Apple’s tight ecosystem and control over both hardware and software, the foldable iPhone may offer a more polished user experience than existing Android foldables.
Market Positioning and Expected Timeline

Apple is likely to supply the iPhone Fold as a premium device, with estimates suggesting a price point between $2,000 and $2,500 (somewhere between 1,71,000 INR and 2,14,000 INR). This aligns with other flagship foldables in the market, and Apple’s reputation for premium pricing supports these projections. The company will likely target early adopters, professionals, and tech enthusiasts initially, with broader market expansion in subsequent generations.
The Launch Timeline
While Apple has yet to confirm any official details, insiders speculate that the device could launch during late 2026 or early 2027. The timeline makes sense, given Apple’s cautious approach to new form factors and the need to ensure a robust ecosystem around foldable functionality. Apple is known for entering new product categories only when it feels confident about the technology and user experience. If and when the iPhone Fold does launch, it could redefine the foldable phone landscape much like the original iPhone did for smartphones.
The iPhone Fold may still be a couple of years away, but the leaks give us a glimpse into Apple’s vision for the future of mobile computing. With all these enhancements, Apple seems to be preparing a powerful response to the growing demand for foldable devices. While the road to the launch is still long, the iPhone Fold could represent a new frontier in smartphone innovation, one that blends and takes portability, productivity, and a premium design to an altogether different level.
