YouTube released its new pinch-to-zoom feature only a few months back. The last update of the video-streaming platform seems to have broken this feature. Numerous complaints from users have surfaced on various online help forums.
The most affected users have Samsung Note 8, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, and the OnePlus 5T. The likes of Pixel 2 XL, LG V30, and Huawei Mate 10 Pro have as well suffered the same. The affected have leaned on several online forms, like Samsung Community, Reddit, OnePlus forum, XDA, Twitter, YouTube’s help forum, the app listing in Google Play Store, and a few more.
Some of the users got rid of cache partition and app cache, and then the feature only worked for one day. Many reported that there are no other issues in their respective devices. Therefore, YouTube Pinch to Zoom feature could be an internal issue, which may make it unable to remain compatible with the last update of the YouTube app.
The feature is dedicated to users with handsets that bear an 18:9 aspect ratio. As known, most of today’s smartphones are equipped with this screen-to-body proportion. The latest update of the YouTube app is 13.07.55, after which the glitch came up.
We are yet to hear from Google regarding this, but keeping a tab. Let us know in the comments below if you ran into the same issue. Stay with us to get the next update on this matter.
