Razer has sent out invites for a launch event to be held on October 10. While the invite doesn’t explicitly mention the anticipated Razer Phone 2, it does promise a “mobility showcase,” so we can hint it’s a Razer Phone 2.
The invite has the boxy rectangular outline of the company’s first phone stamped on it, which, it seems, is going to be the outline of the company’s second phone, as an earlier leak showed.
The invite for Razer’s upcoming launch event arrives at the same time photos of the rumored sequel have leaked out. This year the keynote will kick off at 6:30 p.m., with early previews for select folks scheduled for an hour and a half earlier. The original Razer phone that debuted last year had won raves for its strong performance and audio.
The image provided showcases an early look at what the new Razer Phone 2 will seem like. The image highlights the lock screen image and the date. The two versions of the phone are almost identical. However, there are some very subtle differences when looking a little closer. For example, on the newer Razer Phone 2, the side bezels do look as though they are a little bit larger. Likewise, in spite of what appears to be an almost identical-looking camera configuration located in an identical position, this image suggests the alignment of the front-facing camera setup has changed slightly.
The Razer Phone 2 figures to face some stiff competition when it debuts. Apple just announced iPhone Xs and Xs Max with a new A12 Bionic processor that supposedly boosts graphics performance by 50 per cent over the last generation of iPhone processors. Samsung has touted the Galaxy Note 8 as a gaming device, given its water carbon fibre cooling system designed to keep performance from flagging during marathon gaming sessions. And the Asus ROG phone is also expected to ship sometime this fall.
It will be a tough competition for Razer Phone 2 to stand in this high-end technology market.
