Today, American sportswear giant Nike has announced its trademark application for downloadable virtual goods.

Nike is attempting to register its brand trademarks in the United States for a variety of virtual items, including shoes and clothing, as digital products become more popular.

According to the corporation, on October 27, the sportswear behemoth submitted four trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to protect its trademarks in the areas of “downloadable virtual products,” retail outlets, and entertainment-related services.

Headwear, spectacles, bags, backpacks, and sports equipment are among the digital products included in the paper. These applications will not be finalized until they are placed into commercial use because they are based on their intended usage.

Virtual products such as apparel are becoming increasingly popular as consumers purchase virtual goods such as digital art and video game skins for popular titles like “Fortnite” and “NBA 2K.”

Nike is an American-based corporation that specializes in designing, developing, manufacturing, and marketing footwear, clothes, equipment, accessories, and services around the world, with the headquarters Portland metropolitan area.
