Nikon has announced its developmental works on the next-gen full-frame mirrorless camera, with NIKKOR lenses having a new mount.
The works are going towards opening a new dimension in an optical performance that should come from the adoption of the mount. Nikon is keeping faith on its optical and manufacturing abilities which come from works on imagery for over a century now! Adding to that is the company’s receival of feedback from worldwide professionals that are coming for decades.
Alongside the Nikon mirrorless camera and mount adoption of NIKKOR lenses, Nikon is also developing an F-mount adapter or a mount converter. This will further allow the engineers to use a broad variety of F-mount SLR NIKKOR lenses with the newly built camera.
In the process of these developmental works, Nikon will be able to provide two choices of camera systems that will be leading the markets. Release dates, suggested retail price, and other relevant details will be shared by the company later.
This isn’t the first attempt of Nikon to build the mirrorless camera. Nikon 1 V1 and Nikon 1 J1 were released back in 2011 and were recently discontinued. These belonged to the Nikon 1 series that was actually dedicated for mirrorless cameras but didn’t do well in the industry.
Professionals hope Nikon has learned from mistakes and will deliver something productive that goes with time. Stay tuned to follow the development.
As teasers to its new products, Nikon arranged for a teaser video that shows shadowy glimpses of the camera in the making. It has even come up with a new website named ‘In Pursuit of Light.’ There was an apparent launch date of August 23 hidden in the HTML code. However, we do have to wait for the official announcements from the company.
