Nikon unveiled two new full-frame mirrorless cameras from its Z series, the Z 6 II and the Z 7 II. The whole range of the Z series gets to have the Nikon Z mount which is significantly better than any other full-frame mount.
As for the two new cameras, both of them feature two EXPEED 6 image processors, turbocharging, and increasing burst capability. Nikon has included the Enhanced Focus System and Eye and Face-Detection AF, both of which are geared towards quickly focusing and tracking subjects.
An increased frame rate of 4K (UHD) 60p is now available in the Nikon Z7 II and will later be available in the Z 6II starting February 2021 through a firmware update. Nikon Z 7II and the Z 6II are the first Nikon cameras to support Eye-Detection AF and Animal-Detection AF with video recording which will continue to focus either on the eyes of humans or animals.
Nikon Z 7II features a 45.7 MP backside-illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor that can capture minute details. It also has a wider aperture as the ISO range is spread from ISO 64 to 25,600; its maximum shooting speed is clocked at up to 10 fps. Furthermore, it also features the 493 on-sensor phase-detect autofocus that covers 90% of the frame. The fact that the Z 7II can focus even in low light, makes it an ideal choice for indoor and low-light events.
The Z 6II features a 24.5 MP BSI CMOS sensor, and its ISO ranges from ISO 100 to ISO 51,200, which could be expanded up to ISO 204,800 equivalent. Keeping in mind the line of the Z 6 series which already features pro-calibre video capabilities, the newest addition to the line is capable of recording 4K UHD video. However, the AF speed and tracking sensitivity could be adjusted according to the user’s preference. The Z 6II’s enhanced AF system features 273 on-sensor phase-detect autofocus points for easy subject acquisition and tracking.
To preserve the camera battery, the cameras in use can draw power from the USB source first. Both the Z 6II and Nikon Z 7II are compatible with the Nikon Webcam Utility software beta, ensuring seamless webcam functionality for all occasions. The two new cameras are coming with more accessories, the most notable of which is the addition of the new MB-N11 Power Battery Pack with a vertical grip.
The Nikon Z 7II will go on sale in December 2020 at the retail price of $2,999.95 (body-only), and at $3599.95 (one-lens kit with the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4); and the Nikon Z 6II will be available in November 2020 at $1999.95 (body-only), and at $2599.95 (one-lens kit with the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4).
