Nokia 5.1 Plus variant TA-1108 will receive a new security update in March. The update will be available in Australia or rather the update will be released in Australia.
What is new in this security update is Google Security Patch for the years 2020 through to 2023. The update is 61.3 MB in size. You will either be prompted to download this update or you can check by going to Settings and searching system updates and then by checking for the update.
The update notification comes with the usual advisory notice, urging users to download and install the update, preferably using Wi-Fi. The notice also asked the users to keep in mind the fact that if the download was done using mobile data, it may incur some additional data.
However, the fact that Nokia is pushing a software update to the Nokia 5.1 Plus may be good news, but is it what the users need right now? A threaded message following the news of the update shows that some users are not at all pleased with the news of the update. Some were hoping that Nokia would push a few firmware updates forward, but it does not look like the Finnish company is too keen on firmware updates right now.
On the other hand, some of the users in Australia did not receive the update notification. It is partly because of the fact that certain geo-tagged locations do not give OTA updates. To fix the problem, if someone is facing this problem, they need to factory reset their Nokia 5.1, and wait for at least three hours or so, and in the meantime, most likely, they will get the updates back. Again, it is just a security patch, and not a maintenance patch.
Moreover, Android 10 will be rolled out to Nokia 5.1 Plus sometime next month.
