According to an official announcement this Thursday, Finnish telecom maker, Nokia, is reorganizing itself in preparation for aiming at 5G opportunities by merging its mobile networks with fixed networks business groups to create a new unit called Access Networks.

Chief Executive, Rajeev Suri, attested, “By creating a single Access Networks organization that includes both fixed and mobile, we can improve our customer focus, simplify our management structure, and more efficiently leverage our full portfolio.”

Nokia is also ushering in changes in its management by appointing Tommi Uitto as the president of Mobile Networks as its erstwhile president Marc Rouanne is leaving the company. Uitto has been heading mobile networks product sales.
