Nokia today, July 9, has confirmed the launch event of its new X5 smartphone two days after in China via a teaser invite on HMD’s official Weibo page.
The to-be-launched phone was previously called Nokia 5.1 Plus, but the official invite poster confirms the new name and that it belongs to the Nokia X series. According to the poster, the phone will have two storage variants: 32GB internal, priced at 799 CNY or about Rs. 8,289, and 64GB priced at 999 CNY or around Rs. 10,364.
A GSMArena report indicates that HMD will price the phones at lower amounts in China as compared to the global price tags. This might make the phone priced higher in the Indian market.
The promo poster also says that Nokia X5 (2018) will have a notched display, which was revealed in a TENAA listing. Accumulating other reports, we know that the phone will sport a 5.86-inch HD+ display supporting 720 x 1520 pixels.
Nokia X5 will be powered by either Helio P60 or Snapdragon 600-series SoC, or even a MediaTek chipset. It is supposed to pack 3GB and 4GB RAM for two of its variants. It might as well have a 6GB RAM variant.
Among other specs are a dual camera setup bearing 13 MP and 5 MP sensors, and the support of Bluetooth 4.2. Stay tuned for more confirmed specs list that’ll come up right in the launch event on July 11.
