Despite being one of the world’s most popular social networking programs, Instagram does not have a dedicated iPad version.
Recently, the head of the American social networking service, Adam Mosseri, has offered a lame reason for the lack of a dedicated app, claiming that there aren’t enough users to justify the effort.
Although the social media site is frequently asked about an iPad app, according to Adam Mosseri, there isn’t enough demand to support one.
In a Twitter exchange with YouTuber Marques Brownlee, Adam Mosseri said his company is frequently asked about an iPad app. However, it’s “still just not a big enough group of people to be a priority,” adding that Instagram hopes to have an iPad app at some point, but it’s “very heads down on other things” right now.
Mosseri has previously addressed the matter, blaming a shortage of personnel for the lack of an Instagram app for iPad. While no official Instagram app for iPad exists, iPadOS 15 has improved the experience of using the iPhone Instagram app on an iPad by allowing iPhone apps to run in landscape mode.
The head of the American social networking service wrote in an exchange with YouTuber Marques Brownlee thus:
“Yup, we get this one a lot. It’s still just not a big enough group of people to be a priority. Hoping to get to it at some point, but right now we’re very heads down on other things.”
“I call these “finally features.” Things like supporting dark mode, scheduled posts, an iPad app, deleting one photo from a carousel, etc.” Mosseri added in a follow-up tweet.
However, several users have been reacting to the comments with different opinions. An iPad user noted, “As an iPad user & photographer, I find this ridiculous. Of course I want an iPad version of instagram! And I would think everyone else who owns an iPad would want it as well. There’s an iPad version of FaceBook. It makes zero sense why FB wouldn’t make one for Instagram, especially since they OWN Instagram!”
In another reaction, who foresees the number of users increased if the same is created said: “It’s because there is no iPad version of Instagram.
Who wants to use iOS version of Instagram on iPad? This is why there are no Instagram users on iPad. I guess once they provide iPad version, the number of users will be increased explosively.”
