Nvidia released the graphics cards GeForce GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti about 18 months ago. Yesterday, May 21 the company quietly launched a new card that’s a merge of the two, and it’s called GeForce GTX 1050.

The 3GB graphics card came up on Nvidia’s website without any fanfare and a little odd configuration. VideoCardz was reportedly the first one to spot it. This comes in the middle of rumors of a new GeForce generation launching later this summer.

Except for the games of e-sports or indie, the most played PC games in 2018 are requiring more than 2GB of the graphics card, where the new model is ideal. But the company’s reconfiguration of the memory bandwidth of the card should go to the bad book as it’s been made less effective, packing a 96-bit bus compared to the 128-bit of the other models. While the sibling models can hit 112GBps, the new one can go no further than 84GBps of total bandwidth.

As for graphics processor, both the new and the faster GTX 1050 Ti pack 768 CUDA cores, and the original GTX 1050 bears 640. The clock speed of the 3GB GTX 1050 is up to 1,518MHz, same for the original GTX is 1050 up to 1,455MHz, and for GTX 1050 Ti it’s 1,302MHz.

There’s no official info out yet on pricing and availability. A spokesperson for Nvidia said that the price range will be similar to the models in the existing lineup. The original card starts with $140, and 1050 Ti is of about $200. Nvidia’s partners such as Asus, Zotac, and EVGA are the only ones to offer these cards. As per the company, the models will hit the markets after Computex 2018 that will take place from June 5 to 9.

Experts say that the new 3GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 is a power-efficient solid option for games of e-sports and casual ones within 1080p with Low to Medium graphics settings. Ideal to boost prebuilt PCs, it doesn’t need additional power suitably.
