In the ever-evolving landscape of the semiconductor industry, NVIDIA stands as a titan, wielding its prowess in graphics processing units (GPUs) and artificial intelligence (AI) chips. The chip manufacturer reportedly sold $103 worth of processors in the second quarter of fiscal year 2024 (as of July 30, 2023), taking advantage of the ongoing demand in the AI sector.

According to market analysis company Omdia, Huida supplied more than 900 tonnes (or around 1.8 million pounds) of H100 graphics cards to customers in the second quarter of artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC). Omdia estimates that an NVIDIA H100 graphics card with a heatsink weighs more than 3 kilograms on average. Therefore, the weight hit 900 tonnes when Huida’s H100 graphics card shipments exceeded 300,000 units in the second quarter.

As per the report, Huida’s H100 is now sold in three different configurations, each of which has a different weight. The H100 PCIe card is 1.2 kg in weight. Although Huida’s H100 SXM module’s weight is unknown, the OAM module with a heat sink has a maximum weight of 2 kg and is roughly the same size and TDP as the H100 SXM. The typical weight of a Huida H100 should be around 1.84 kg if 80% of its shipments are modules and 20% are accelerator cards.

Huida is anticipated to sell about 3,600 tonnes of H100 graphics cards in 2023, according to Omdia, who emphasized that Huida’s GPU graphics card sales are anticipated to remain stable over the coming quarters. Every year, roughly 1.2 million H100 GPUs will be shipped if the growth rate holds steady. Even if this is just an estimate from Omdia, shipping more than 300,000 H100 GPU cards in a single quarter is still a commendable accomplishment.

It should be noted that the H800 graphics card released for the Chinese market should be included in the total quantity of H100 indicated above. Huida has also supplied massive quantities of computer GPUs from the A100, A800, and A30 generations. Therefore, Huida sold considerably more than 300,000 GPU graphics cards in a single quarter, amounting to more than 900 tonnes.

Huida’s supply still falls short of the large market demand, though. According to the news, Huida’s output through the end of the year has already been reserved. Therefore, it is reasonable to anticipate that Huida’s shipments will increase in the upcoming year as the generative artificial intelligence boom continues.
