Microsoft has just announced its October Xbox Live free games in their most recent blog post. It includes two games—Windbound and Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition. In addition to the regular advantages, Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate players will enjoy exclusive access to both titles for the next October month.
In a statement earlier this month Microsoft stated, “We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog; however, Games with Gold will continue to include exciting Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month.”
Though this is the first month in which no Xbox 360 or original Xbox titles are part of Xbox Gold games. Regrettably, this also entails that there will only be two games on the schedule for October and perhaps upcoming months. The two October Xbox Live free games are described in greater detail below.

The precise release dates for Windbound and Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition are respectively October 1 through October 31 and October 16 through November 15.
Windbound gameplay and story
Windbound is an adventure game set in the Forbidden Islands that allows players to take on the role of Kara. Kara needs to explore the ground for supplies, create weapons, and even construct a temporary boat to navigate the waters in order to survive and prosper on this enigmatic chain of islands. The Forbidden Islands are a risky yet gorgeous sandbox, with harsh elements and a variety of exotic animals wandering the regions.
Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition gameplay and story
Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition is a World War II-themed strategic bombing game in which players take on the role of a bomber crew leader. Your duties include selecting the best team members, getting your bomber ready, and—most importantly—managing your reserves and assigning tasks to your team members while the mission is in progress. Every member of the crew is procedurally created and has a set of distinctive characteristics.
Windbound will be available to players on October 1; however, they must wait until October 16 to play Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition.
