Ola has taken a big step to further improve its customer’s experience. The customers will now be provided with the option of an in-trip insurance cover. Ola has set the insurance cover at a premium of ₹1 per ride for intra-city travel, ₹10 for Ola Rentals, and ₹15 for Ola outstation. This program covers all the vehicles under Ola, including cabs, auto, kaali-peeli, and e-rickshaw. Cases of loss of baggage or laptops, missed flights, accidental medical expenses, and ambulance transportation will get covered under this plan.
Ola, in collaboration with Acko General Insurance Ltd, has launched this program in more than 100 cities all over India. The initial phase will only see the service being rolled out for customers in major metropolitan cities. It will be expanded afterward to more cities.
The option of the in-trip insurance program will soon be made available in the Ola app. It will be updated on Acko’s website, mobile app, and call centers, as well. Ola has also confirmed their partnership with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Ltd to come live in just a few months.
We are thrilled to introduce in-trip insurance for our customers under the ‘Chalo Befikar’ insurance program. Just for Re 1, Ola customers can avail an insurance policy of Rs 5 lakh which will also provide cover for missed flights, loss of baggage, loss of laptop, emergency hotel requirements, and many more. The launch of this initiative, a first of its kind in India, reiterates our resolve of building customer-first solutions. – Vishal Kaul, Chief Operating Officer, Ola
There’s already a similar plan named ‘Chalo Befikar’, run by Ola. It is for the Ola drivers only. For customers, this latest Ola insurance program can be seen as an extension of the plan.
