Ola plans to have its service available in London from January 2020. The Indian firm, which entered portions of the UK last year, has started to sign up drivers in London ahead of the launch in the city.
At a time when Uber has lost the license to operate in London, its rival Ola has begun registering licensed drivers in London as it prepares to launch its ride-hailing service in the UK capital in the coming weeks. With this, the company said on Tuesday that over 50,000 licensed drivers will now be assured that they can continue to provide mobility services in London. Drivers can initiate their registration on the Ola app.

Simon Smith, who heads Ola’s international operations, said the firm’s mobility platform is “fully compliant” with TfL’s standards. The Indian company, on its part, could not have made it clearer that it was doing everything Uber supposedly didn’t. Ola currently has more than 2 million drivers on its platform and has a presence in over 250 Indian cities.
