Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus unveiled one of the most speculated smartphones of this year OnePlus 6, at an event held in London yesterday. The most talked-about feature of the smartphone was the display and whether it will have iPhone X-like a notch. And the curtain has been unveiled now – yes, the new design has a notch at the top of the 6.3-inch 19:9 OLED display. The notch has been the talk of the town among users lately, with some requesting an option to conceal it and put a black bar around it. That is not happening!

After the global launch in London, the smartphone maker is eying specific countries and India on its preferred list, which witnessed the launch of the device today in Mumbai.

The 6.3-inch display is OLED with a 19:9 aspect ratio supporting 2280 x 1080 pixels, 402 ppi density, and featuring minimal bezels. Top 1,000 Play Store apps have been checked by the company, with the interface proving to be as smooth as you expect. The phone also sports a new all-glass design instead of the aluminum build, and it’s the company’s first such device.

OnePlus 6 possesses clean and thoughtfully designed software that keeps the device constantly fast. It is supposed to be one of the first Android phones to pack the Android P beta, and the brand says that it is its commitment to bring the updates timely.

The handset packs a Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor with Adreno 630 GPU, coupled with a maximum of 8GB RAM and a maximum of 256GB of inbuilt memory. Sporting the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front, it houses a non-removable Li-Po 3,300mAh battery and Dash Charge. Other features include Bluetooth 5 and support for two nano-SIM cards.

In terms of camera, the dual rear camera setup with 16 MP and 20 MP sensors supports pixel sizes of 1.22um and 1.0um, respectively. Optimal image stabilization and faux-bokeh portrait mode features are added with dual-LED flash, phase detection autofocus, and touch focus. The front camera hosts a 16 MP lens with a 1.0um pixel size.

As for variants, 6GB+64GB comes at $529, and 8GB+128GB comes at $579, with both models available in Mirror Black. The latter variant also comes in Silk White and Midnight Black color options. The best variant in terms of storage is the 8GB+256GB that comes at $629 and the Midnight Black option.

All the models will have sales starting on May 22 from the OnePlus online store in India, North America, and across Europe. The European pricing list is a bit less attractive, with 64GB at €519 or £469, 128GB at €569 or £519, and 256GB at €619 or £569.

OnePlus 6 is compared with the Honor 10 by experts that has Kirin 970 processor, the best of Huawei at present. What do you think? Share your opinions with us. Stay tuned to get more details on OnePlus 6.
