Recently, users have brought up complaints about a sharp decline in the device’s battery life. Now, OnePlus 6T users are complaining about the poor recording quality of the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T with certain apps.
Audio recorded from the last two OnePlus handsets sounds like it is coming from a distant planet when heard over Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and more. The quality is poor, there is a tinny quality to it, and the sound is distorted.
The issue lies in the internal working of apps on how these apps record sounds. Most apps on the OnePlus 6/6T mostly record sound using the top microphone, which is specially designed for noise cancellation. A similar issue was witnessed on the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, and OnePlus 3 models. Although, a small software tweak is needed to fix the problem and improve the recorded audio quality of the device.
The call and recording issues might rest in the microphone usage on the OnePlus 6 and 6T. According to a user on Reddit, the two phones use the top microphone in the apps mentioned above. The top microphone is typically used for noise cancellation, whereas other apps use the bottom microphone as the main one.
Additionally, the OnePlus 5 and 5T are also facing several issues after upgrading to Android 9.0 Pie. OnePlus has tried fixing them by providing continuous updates after the OxygenOS 9.0 update, but still, many problems are pending. We hope OnePlus will soon address these issues and will help to optimize the performance and stability of all its devices.
