An image alleged to be of the upcoming OnePlus 7 has been leaked. It shows a phone in a protective case is compared to a different phone which seems to be the OnePlus 6T. While the protective casing has most parts of the device safely covered, whatever can be made out reveals a lack of display notch or punch hole, suggesting some kind of sliding mechanism for placing the front camera.

Expected to be the successor to OnePlus 6T, the OnePlus 7 may be officially announced in May this year. But as it stands now, one has to base their speculations on a bunch of leaks, and the current image also provides some vague details, if not anything concrete. For instance, first published on CoolAPK and since deleted, the snap was spotted by a Slashleak contributor and reveals the phone’s earpiece grille, which is very similar to the one present in OnePlus 6T, alert slider, and power button. The current flagship device, the OnePlus 6T, is available here to add to your most secured Amazon cart.

The cut-outs of the protective casing meant for a front camera and sensors indicate, as already mentioned, the possibility of a slider mechanism to fill up the empty space behind the cut-outs once it has been activated. This may be an attempt to narrow down the bezel as much as possible by enabling sliders to usher in front cameras. And the mechanism is not new either, with the same having already been used in Oppo’s Find X, where the slider was motorized, and in Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3, where it was mechanical.

In related news, OnePlus is all set to launch two new smartphones in the first half of 2019. According to OnePlus’ CEO, Pete Lau, one out of the two devices will be a 5G mobile phone, all set for a launch by the end of May 2019. It shall have a unprecedented branding that is also expected to have a cost exceeding that of the OnePlus 6T by at least $200-$300.

Pete Lau further informed the company’s user base while speaking at Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit last December that its next flagship will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.
