Ard Boudeling, an executive of social media at OnePlus, has teased the render of an unnamed device on Twitter with the caption “peekabo”, which has left the internet running wild with speculations. The fact that OnePlus is all set to release a new 5G enabled device sometime next year. Going by the trend usually followed by OnePlus while naming its devices, it may be named OnePlus 7 since it follows the lately released OnePlus 6T; speculations are rife that the teased render may belong to none other than OnePlus 7 itself.
While it is true that OnePlus 7 shall be OnePlus 6T’s successor; it nevertheless is all set to usher in an altogether new lineup of devices. While OnePlus 6T offered a bigger display with a water-drop style notch and the OnePlus 6 had a full-blown one. The OnePlus 7 is expected to have a small circular cut-out area for the front camera, with the display covering the front panel entirely.
Oppo R19, which shall be following OnePlus 7 with a similar form factor, is expected to take after the trend and could end up having an in-display front camera with a cut-out in the display. Furthermore, if some reports are to be believed, there are already concept renders of the OnePlus 7 out there following this design principle and flaunt a rear with three cameras.
The render images of the OnePlus 7 show an in-display camera positioned at the top center, slightly below the place where the camera lies in the notch on the OnePlus 6T; giving the OnePlus 7 a screen-to-body ratio of around 95%. The device is also expected to be equipped with an Optic AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The rendered image of the phone’s rear shows a dual-camera setup similar to the OnePlus 6T with an additional camera below it, making it a triple-camera setup. Other specifications of the concept render may include features like a 4150mAh battery, 24-megapixel front-facing camera, and 24-megapixel+12-megapixel+8-megapixel triple rear cameras that will support 4K slow motion video shooting.
While a report claims that a OnePlus spokesperson told the publication that the OnePlus 6T successor, currently being believed to be the OnePlus 7, will not be enabled with 5G; since the company has already confirmed that a 5G device will be released, it may be likely that the device might be part of a new line up by OnePlus.
Lastly, if rumors are to be believed, the device shall be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February 2019 in Barcelona, Spain; and is expected to be an expensive product with premium features like wireless charging and better design.
