Back in March 2020, OnePlus Pay made its debut in China. After almost a year-long, it looks like it will finally arrive in India as the company has filed a trademark for the OnePlus Pay in India. Along with it, OnePlus also went ahead with the filing of a trademark for OnePlus Life.

Both of the filing was made by the company on March 30th, 2021. Techmaster Mukul Sharma pointed it out on Twitter via his April 5, 2021 post. The revelation has caused a lot of anticipation among the users and customers.

Digital payment and services are becoming more popular and convenient among people with time, especially in the midst of pandemic and the whole social distancing situation. Many technology companies have already come up with their own platforms to adjust to the public demand. OnePlus is no exception too.

However, it is no new concept. Back in 2019, OnePlus teased the arrival of this payment system for the very first time. While launching the OnePlus 7T, the company officially announced its online payment platform, OnePlus Pay. It was primarily exclusive for its home country, China; but now eventually other countries have also started to receive it.

On the other hand, OnePlus life is a completely new introduction to OnePlus. Rumors have it that it can be similar to Realme Tech Life, an AIoT platform that invites third-party companies to develop smart devices with the brand. OnePlus may introduce a range of different new products in India through this platform.

About OnePlus Pay

OnePlus Pay gives the company access to the online payment market. It was first limited to China only but it eventually has started to grasp the market in other countries too. This online payment service is based on NFC and users can use their OnePlus smartphones to pay via a POS machine that supports NFC payments quickly. The service includes its own app. However, to save time and hassle, OnePlus Pay allows users quick activation by double-pressing the power button.

Users have to download the app on their OnePlus smartphones to activate the services and set OnePlus Pay as their phones’ default NFC-based payments app. After that, they must enter the necessary banking details; the OnePlus Pay service will be activated and ready to go. However, it will only work for the NFC-enabled POS devices for local transactions.

There are already a few popular online payment apps in India like Paytm, PayPal, Google Pay, and more. Even Samsung Pay is also available in the country. In this scenario, how OnePlus Pay follows up to compete in the market will be interesting to see. As per speculations, it could partner with Indian banks and international payment services like Visa and Mastercard. RuPay debit and a credit card are also there as options for this Chinese payment service.

In China, it is claimed that OnePlus Pay scans codes much faster than rivals WeChat and AliPay. Let’s see how it works after its launch in India.

About OnePlus Life

As for OnePlus life, as we mentioned before, it is very new to the company. OnePlus has not given any tips about this new service it’s aiming at. But the rumors hint that this could be a platform for the company where it will develop and introduce new products in collaboration with third parties.
