A new leaf is about to sprout from the ground, with branches reaching out, making it resemble a tower-sized tree—a new Beta is on the horizon for Final Fantasy 14. According to the publisher, the open beta will commence on Wednesday, February 21 at 3 am ET / 1:30 PM IST. Unfortunately, existing Final Fantasy 14 account holders on other platforms won’t be able to participate in the open beta; it’s exclusively tailored for newcomers at this stage.
Square Enix states, “The open beta test is exclusively available for new players venturing into the world of Final Fantasy 14 for the first time. Seize this chance to invite your Xbox-owning pals who have yet to explore the ever-expanding realms of Final Fantasy 14 and embark on this adventure together.” Fans who already have a Final Fantasy 14 license intertwined with their Square Enix account, rest assured; you can still delve into the realm of swords and fire upon its full Xbox launch. However, you’ll have to wait patiently through the beta test.
Square Enix encourages players who are eager to experience Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox with an existing Square Enix account and tethered characters to bide their time until the full Xbox launch after the open beta.
The Xbox Series X/S version is set to launch immediately after the open beta finalizes, although the specific date will be determined after thorough reviews. Beta participants will have the option to transfer their data to the final version.
The official announcement of Final Fantasy 14’s arrival on Series X/S was made in June 2023 during the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival in Las Vegas, featuring a surprise appearance by Xbox head Phil Spencer.
Xbox unveils that the Series X version of the game will boast 4K graphics, while both the Series X and Series S versions will benefit from swift loading times.
The extended Free Trial, already available on PC and PlayStation consoles, will also extend to Xbox. This grants players unrestricted access to the base game A Realm Reborn, along with its first two expansions, Heavensward and Stormblood, up to level 70. After reaching level 70, players will need to subscribe to a monthly fee to stick with their journey in the game.
