In a recent news update in the world of Smartphones, Oppo and OnePlus fans could soon see their devices being charged wireless by Qi Wireless Charging. Yes! The use of cable chargers is soon going to be history in the future smartphones by Oppo.
Though it has not been officially confirmed when this new technology will be incorporated, what’s confirmed is that Oppo has recently joined the league of smartphone manufacturers who are a part of the Wireless Power Consortium.
Aimed at achieving perfection in wireless charging, this band of smartphone manufacturers channels their resources to develop and promote the Qi interface wireless charging standard. Many leading smartphone manufacturers are a part of this Consortium – Apple, Samsung, Huawei, ZTE, Panasonic, and Sony, with Oppo as its newest Member.
The criteria for joining the Wireless Power Consortium is that the smartphone manufacturer should create a device capable of supporting Qi wireless charging. Though none of Oppo’s devices have that yet, developers at Oppo are rumored to be working on it. This opens up an all-new different world for Oppo to harness this new technology and incorporate it into their smartphones. Since both Oppo and OnePlus come under the same parent company, it is speculated that the new smartphones will be incorporated with this technology.
