Oppo, on its website, announced that it “will gradually stop manufacturing new products” of hi-fi systems and Blu-ray players to increase its pace in releasing smartphones and accessories. The farewell post on the site comes after 14 years of the company’s establishment.
It reads: “As our latest 4K UHD players reach the pinnacle of their performance, it is time to say goodbye.” The brand is well known for its impressive Oppo hi-fi systems, Blu-ray players, and 4K Ultra HD players like the fabulous Oppo UDP-203.
Existing products will continue to be supported, warranties will still be valid, and both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair services will continue to be available. Firmware will continue to be maintained and updates released from time to time. Customers can rest assured that they will continue to receive the high quality service and support that they have come to expect from Oppo Digital. – OPPO
Addressing the concern about the frequency of firmware updates, Oppo said that newer products like UDP-203 and UDP-205 would receive more frequent updates. Mature products like BDP-103 and earlier models will get firmware updates only if critical fixes are addressed.
