Oppo may be getting ready to inaugurate its latest flagship smartphone, though not at the MWC 2019, and documents filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office reveal the device’s name as the Oppo Find Z, as a successor to the Oppo Find X.

Benchmarking portal, Geekbench, disclosed that the device was codenamed ‘Poseidon,’ besides suggesting that it may be powered by the Snapdragon 855. The SnapDragon 855 is, for its part, the first commercial chipset with support for 5G connectivity, besides being Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor.

Oppo recently announced its latest 10x hybrid optical zoom technology for enhanced photography, which is fuelling speculations that the Oppo Find Z may be equipped with the same. It is also being suggested that Oppo may take a page from Samsung in taking its variable aperture camera and combining it with the 10X hybrid optical zoom, night mode feature, a Time of Flight 3D camera to allow 3D scanning, and a full body frame adjustment.

Further speculations also suggest that the flagship may come with Its new and improved in-display two-fingerprint authentication system, which, besides allowing for faster authentication and higher safety, also provides a wide surface area for the fingerprint sensor.

The device will be powered by Android 9 Pie, with additional support from Oppo’s own Color OS6 custom interface. And be equipped with a battery that will sport support for SuperVOOC fast charging.

While all the key specs of the Oppo Find Z are, as of now, merely speculative, Oppo is nonetheless gearing up for the launch of the Oppo F11 Pro, which has already passed the certification test in three countries. It also has a launch event scheduled at the MWC Barcelona, where the company may launch its first 5G compatible smartphone. Oppo also plans to enter the smart devices market with smartwatches, smart headphones, etc., later this year.
