OPPO held the 2019 Future Technology Conference to showcase the new innovations that the company comes up with. The conference performs as the platform to bring out the new smartphones and test its reception against the audience. This year’s conference too did not disappoint and the tech giant teased the audience with its upcoming Oppo smartphone with an under-screen camera making it look something right out of a sci-fi movie.
The camera is embedded in the screen and there are no openings or physical holes present on the body of the smartphone itself. Needless to say, the addition of this ‘seemingly-not-there’ camera further enhances the screen-size.
Furthermore, the Oppo under-screen camera smartphone appears to be button-less, in the sense that, buttons, of volume or power, were not spotted on the body. The exclusion of the physical button does not mean that the new smartphone will not have them.
OPPO has revealed that the buttons are designed with pressure sensitivity. The camera hidden inside the screen is smaller when compared to the other version that OPPO exhibited in June this year. The size and the place of the camera make it somewhat difficult to locate it on the phone’s body with the naked eye. The OPPO officials are calling the innovative new camera placement, “perspective panoramic screen.”
In addition to the camera, and pressure-activated buttons, the new smartphone supports the 30W wireless VOOC flash charge function. This new series of charging function has not yet been commercialized by the smartphone manufacturer, and likewise, the next smartphone is likely to be the first-ever smartphone from OPPO to feature the wireless VOOC flash charge. The battery can reach up to 3000mAh in just 80 minutes.
OPPO emphasized the fact that the machine that it showcased is only a demo and not yet fully developed to be launched in the market. The company did not comment when the Oppo under-screen camera smartphone will come out in the market.
