Today, the Japanese video game developer and publisher, Capcom announced that the multi-platform title Resident Evil Village had been shipped by over 5 million units worldwide.

Resident Evil Village is the follow-up to Resident Evil 7 biohazard, which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. It puts players in the shoes of protagonist Ethan Winters as they travel to a mysterious, snowy village to save their daughter.

This title was praised for having a higher degree of action and even more expansive, extremely engrossing gameplay than its predecessor, as well as storytelling that climbs above the category of horror games.

The game attracted players with a fantastic play experience with breathtaking, photorealistic visuals and cutting-edge 3D audio, thanks to the company’s proprietary RE ENGINE, which allowed for simultaneous release on both the new and current generation of consoles.

As a result, the game’s worldwide shipments surpassed 5 million units faster than the previous series entry.

Capcom is also actively exploiting the franchise in a multitude of mediums, befitting the Resident Evil brand’s 25th anniversary, according to its Single Content Multiple Usage strategy.

The CG animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, which is now available worldwide on Netflix, the impending live-action Hollywood version of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, as well as collaborations with other firms are among these initiatives.

Capcom is committed to exceeding all stakeholders’ expectations by harnessing its industry-leading game production capabilities.

Survival horror games in the Resident Evil brand have players using a range of weapons and other objects to escape horrific scenarios.

Since the original game’s release in 1996, the series’ total shipments have surpassed 100 million units. More than 25 years later, the series still has a devoted international following.
