PayPal Holdings Inc has finally decided to snap business ties with Alex Jones’s Infowars following his racist, hate speeches and discriminatory materials that were up on the website.
Alex Jones is a popular American Conspiration Theorist and also an influential radio talk show host who claimed that the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre in 2012 was fabricated, among all other claims. His motives and actions have been claimed to be right-wing; it has been known.
Infowars website content has already been banned from companies such as Twitter, Apple, Google, Facebook, and many others. One of the spokespersons of PayPal said – “We’ve made a decision to end our relationship with Infowars websites, including PrisonPlanet,” The reasons have been common for all of them and that is the promotion and propagation of hatred and religious and social and racial intolerance towards certain communities. Thus the spokesperson added that these “run counter to our core value of inclusion”.
Hence in these months, we see that Jones’ action has landed him in legal suits and have brushed him off the major social media and tech platforms. It is for us to see where the company ends up after the exits.
