The reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong found on 24th November that Pinterest is about to add a new feature that will let its users sign up for Zoom classes through the app.

The company has confirmed that they are testing the online classes feature but have refused to comment on the issue further. The users could directly visit the demo profiles through the app and visit all the listed Class communities, but since the feature has not yet been released, almost all of those communities are void of any content.

It is expected that if Pinterest decides to launch the new feature finally, the communities will offer new sections that will be used by creators to organize their class materials. Creators will also get the platform to interact with the class attendees and whatnot.

If a user is interested in joining a class, they need to click the ‘book’ button to sign up with the community offering the class and receive details about the class in an email. As mentioned before, Pinterest is likely to offer Zoom classes, the details of which will be communicated to the user via email.

During the pandemic, Pinterest has been the choice app of many teachers and students alike, for online classes to keep track of lesson plans, share educational activities and much more; thus, this new venture should not come as a shock to people.

Coronavirus and lockdown have furthered user interest in Pinterest, and its monthly active users grew to a whopping 442 million, whereas the expected growth was supposed to be somewhere near 436.4 million.

“We are experimenting with ways to help creators interact more closely with their audience,” a  Pinterest spokesperson said when asked for more information. Pinterest refused to comment on its new venture, and as such neither confirmed nor articulated any future plans.
