Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated and Huawei, announced that they have successfully completed 5G NR Interoperability and Development Testing (IODT) based on the 3GPP Release 15 global standard.
The key milestone towards accelerating the maturity of the Release 15 5G NR ecosystem is the testing, which utilized Qualcomm Technologies’ UE prototype and Huawei’s commercial 5G system. The industry’s 5G NR end-to-end commercialization efforts spanning networks and devices is significantly promoted by the successful IODT conducted by Qualcomm Technologies and Huawei. The successful IODT is undertaking the interoperability between RAN, UE, and core network, which will significantly promote the industry’s 5G NR commercialization efforts spanning networks and devices.
The two companies jointly verified key 3GPP 5G NR technologies, including frame structure and scalable OFDM numerology components, synchronization, and channel coding. The companies tested the synchronization, control, and data channels between the 5G NR UE and network operation in the 3.5 GHz band.
As remarked by Serge Willenegger, SVP & GM, 4G/5G and Industrial IoT, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We look forward to furthering collaboration with Huawei on the path to making 5G a commercial reality ”.
At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona from February 26 through March 1 at the Qualcomm Technologies booth in Hall 3 – Booth 3E10 and Huawei booth in Hall 1 – Booth 1J50, the 5G NR interoperability demonstration is expected to be on display.
