The world’s largest manufacturer of ARM processors, Qualcomm, is strategizing to launch its new mobile platform chipset SoC for mid-level devices. The new SoC will be named Snapdragon 450 and internally named SDM450. When it comes to the mobile chipset, Snapdragon is ruling the industry with its 400 series – used in Redmi 4X and Huawei Y7 Prime.
The new Snapdragon 450 is an octa-core chip like the SDM435 but made on the 14nm node process. It will contain 8 ARM Cortex-A53 cores, and its GPU (Graphical Processing Unit) is a bit faster, i.e., 600MHz used in the MSM8953. The chipset is packed with technology that consumes less power combined with other features such as the LTE version and camera support, and it will have quick charge 3.0.
Qualcomm has not revealed its official launch date, but there is a possibility that it may get launched by the next quarter of this year or by the 1st quarter of next year.
