And finally, Qualcomm has taken the wraps off its latest mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, poised to set a new standard for mobile phone performance as it is packed with an array of AI features and cutting-edge hardware capabilities.

The chipset, which is a successor to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, promises a seamless blend of power, efficiency, and advanced AI features for tech enthusiasts worldwide and is expected to make its debut on nine smartphone brands later this month.

As announced by the chipmaker, a lineup of prominent brands is set to launch smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. Expect to see Oppo, Vivo, ZTE, iQOO, Honor, OnePlus, Sony, Redmi, and Realme bringing devices equipped with this powerhouse of a processor to the market.

Enhancing Smartphone Performance with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 AI Features

Known for delivering a balance of performance and efficiency, Qualcomm continues this tradition with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Featuring an octa-core design with a 1+3+4 CPU core layout, it is fabricated on TSMC’s 4nm process technology. Although Qualcomm has not revealed specific core specs, the chipset includes a single prime core clocked at a maximum of 2.63GHz, 3x performance cores at 2.40GHz, and 4x efficiency cores at 1.8GHz.

In terms of improvements, the CPU on the chipset boasts a 15% speed boost over its predecessor, the Gen 1, while the Adreno GPU experiences an impressive 50% performance improvement. Qualcomm asserts that the Gen 3 is approximately 20% more power-efficient. The hexagon AI engine within the NPU delivers a substantial 60% improvement in performance per watt compared to the 7 Gen 1, and users can generate AI images using stable diffusion in just one second locally on the device.

And finally, the latest 7-series chipset introduces high refresh-rate support for up to 168Hz on FHD+ displays and is capable of driving a 4K display at 60Hz. The Spectra Triple ISP in the camera department enables the recording of 4K HDR video at 60 Hz. On the connectivity front, the chipset modem takes center stage, offering peak download speeds of up to 5Gbps, along with support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
