Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., launched the new Snapdragon 700 mobile platform series at MWC, Barcelona, today. The new Snapdragon 700 will have features and performances previously available only on Snapdragon 800.
The Snapdragon 700 Mobile Platform Series will bring premium tier technologies and features into more affordable devices, something our global OEM customers and consumers are demanding. From our cutting-edge Qualcomm AI Engine to superior camera, device performance and power, the Snapdragon 700 Series is optimized to support the experiences consumers have come to expect from the most advanced mobile devices at a lower price point. – Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager, mobile, Qualcomm Technologies
Compared to the Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, the new 700, equipped with multi-core Qualcomm AI Engine, will deliver up to 2x improvements for on-device AI applications. Using heterogeneous computing, the new architectures of the 700 Series, comprising of the Hexagon Vector Processor, Adreno Visual Processing subsystem, and Kryo CPU, will collaborate to effortlessly capture and share videos, learn voice and speech, and allow devices to last a whole day on a single charge without the added hassle of having to change applications and settings.
Qualcomm Spectra ISP, being featured by the 700 series, will allow users to capture images during the day or at night, in slow-motion, or with the help of AI. It may also make way for additional professional grade camera features, supported by high-quality specs.
It is expected that 700 Series products will benefit from Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 4+ technology, which has been engineered to get up to 50% charge in only 15 minutes and feature an advanced suite of wireless technologies with ultra-fast LTE, carrier Wi-Fi features, as well as enhanced Bluetooth 5.
The first set of Snapdragon 700 mobile platform series is expected to reach customers by the first half of 2018.
